“We had such a warm welcome” said Griff Conti when asked “Why Westport?” for Connecticut’s only Franny’s Farmacy location. The 31 Church Lane storefront celebrated its one year anniversary on Friday, opening their doors to guests as they join the local business revival.
Conti, a Norwalk native, franchise owner, and investor for the national CBD/Hemp brand, continued to explain that after a two day pop-up event in Westport, it was clear Westport was the perfect community. “The space on Church Lane solidified the choice for us.” Despite the pandemic, the shop opened their doors to a strong response from locals who shop the store’s edibles, topicals, flowers, and other products.
Conti described the local shop as a close knit group of employees with a strong following of local families who peruse the selection of hemp and CBD products, all grown in the United States. “Hemp, not high” he explained when discussing Franny’s Farmacy’s mission to help others at any comfort level, while supporting the individual franchise owners, farmers, employees, and quality of product through vertical integration.
Founder and North Carolinian Franny Tracy was at the store this weekend and was excited to celebrate the one year anniversary for the downtown location, saying “they do the best job with helping people with what they need on an individual basis.” The store held a two day celebration – with food, live music, and local vendors all welcoming visitors to their outdoor and indoor lounge spaces.
When asked about the future, Conti said that new Connecticut locations were in the works – and that despite the changing legal climate for marijuana in Connecticut, “we don’t be converting” – citing the nearby Christ & Holy Trinity preschool within view from the front door.
