Discounted parking in Melbourne’s CBD is now on offer to “bring back the buzz” for school holidays.
On Monday, the City of Melbourne confirmed the big parking discounts that will be available on weekends and after 4pm on weekdays.
This applies to 33 Wilson and Secure Parking car parks and will last until August 22.
The $5 parking deals will need to be pre-booked online or via an app.
The cheaper parking will benefit families travelling in to the city for the Winter Village, Truffle Festival and Imaginaria.
“Every extra person that comes into the city provides an opportunity for local traders who have just been through the toughest trading period in decades,” Lord Mayor Sally Capp said.
“We want to bring back the buzz to Melbourne because a vibrant and busy city means more customers for businesses and more Melburnians in jobs.
“With so much happening, it’s a perfect time to come in and enjoy everything our city has to offer.”
The city’s FOMO Friday campaign is still in effect until July 18.
In another incentive, diners who spend between $50 and $500 within the City of Melbourne receive 20 per cent back in their pocket.
Half of the $8.4 million joint fund has already been exhausted.
