In US news and current events today, Sanders and Bloomberg faced off on cannabis policy. Both candidates are in favor of decriminalization, but Bloomberg is diametrically opposed to legalization, saying that there hasn’t been enough research.
Sanders pushed back with his progressive stance on weed legalization, pointing out that the lack of research Bloomberg referred to is due to the Schedule 1 classification of cannabis, which he would reschedule if elected. He even went so far as saying he doesn’t want to just see a few corporations profiting off of legal weed.
The only two 2020 Democratic presidential candidates opposed to legalization are Mike Bloomberg and Joe Biden. Every other candidate has said they plan to legalize cannabis if elected.
